 (MIAMI – March 14, 2014) – West Perrine Park will be able to help more kids stay Fit to Play this year thanks to a generous contribution from the Rotary Club of Perrine-Cutler Ridge / Palmetto Bay during the 3rd Annual Wing Ding Cook Off Fundraiser.  Park Manager Julia Banks and staff was presented with a check for $25,000 from the Rotary Club to enhance the After School and the Summer Camp program. “This support will go a long way to benefit the kids in the community served by the park,” said Banks. “We will be able to offer more homework help, tutoring and mentoring programs. We will have a little more fun too.”

Commissioner Dennis C. Moss joined the park manager during the presentation and expressed his appreciation for the work that the  park and the Rotary Club does in District 9.  “West Perrine Park serves a growing community and we want to our best to make sure that everyone is able to enjoy the programs that are available,” said Commissioner Moss.  “Thanks to the Rotary Club and this investment in our kids we are closer to accomplishing that goal.”

The Rotary Club has been serving the local community since 1960 and is one of several thousand Rotary Clubs that comprise the 1.2 million neighbors, friends, and community leaders who come together to create positive, lasting change in our communities and around the world.  The club is best known for its numerous college scholarships providing over $250,000 to local high school students.  “The Club was needing a long term signature project that we could really sink our teeth into,” said Tayloe Perry, President.  “We are committed to supporting the brilliant work of Ms. Banks and her partners for years to come and really look forward to seeing the positive results of the added support.”
